Organized, bubbly, easygoing!
I graduated from James Madison University with a degree in Media Arts & Design and minor in Creative Writing. My dream was to work in the cutthroat women's magazine industry. I loved writing, reading and graphic design. But this was right around the time print publications began their decline. Magazines were folding left and right, and so were job openings. I landed on my feet on the other side of magazines: public relations. The firm I was at focused on clients in the beauty industry. To say it was glamorous was an understatement! I hustled behind the scenes at New York Fashion Week shows and helped host trendy launch parties.
Eventually, the Big Apple burned me out. I moved on to a job at a cozy tourism marketing agency where I did PR again for several years, plus produced television commercials - my favorite part!
So, where the heck does photography come in!? Well all this time I was working a side hustle assisting a wedding planner and photographer. I taught myself photography while shadowing them. I realized this was something enjoyed and the idea of starting my own business excited me.
I noticed a pattern in my career path: my strongest skill lied in creative direction. Having the ability to piece together a story from nothing into a beautiful and concise tale, all while patiently directing others how to be a part of it too.
