My career in photography did not start with me finding a grandparent's old Hasselblad or falling in love with the dark room in high school. I fell into the field and am proud to be self-taught at my craft.
After graduating from James Madison University with a degree in Media Arts & Design, my plan was to become the next big editor at a girly fashion magazine à la Carrie Bradshaw. But it was just as competitive as it seems, and instead I found a job on the other side, in the glamorous field of public relations. Promoting popular beauty brands at New York Fashion Week was a highlight I'll never forget! After my time in the Big Apple, I worked for a tourism marketing agency where I wore a lot of hats - working with influencers, planning pop-up events, and (my favorite) producing four television commercials.
All this time I was working a side hustle in the wedding industry. I started on the planning side then was brought into the photography side, and realized I really, really liked it. Wedding photography combined all the things I loved - fashion, art & love. In a way, it feels like working for a girly fashion magazine!
I took my photography business full time in 2016. My well-rounded background helped form the artist and businesswoman I am today, honing my ability to create, direct, and curate others' love stories in an editorial style. I believe we all end up where we're supposed to be and am touched by the joy I bring to others in this "job."
