Princeton and the surrounding countryside are home to some of the most beautiful wedding venues in New Jersey — historic estates, riverside retreats, working farms, and grand golf clubs, all within easy reach of town. Whether you’re dreaming of a black-tie ballroom or a relaxed garden celebration, here are my favorite wedding venues around Princeton, from a photographer who loves shooting in this area. I’ve linked each one so you can explore further.

TPC Jasna Polana

Once the private estate of John Seward Johnson (1930-2020), American Sculptor whose work you will see all over nearby Grounds for Sculpture, Jasna Polana is now a luxury golf club where an Italianate mansion serves as the clubhouse. Couples get manicured grounds, a travertine ballroom overlooking the 18th fairway, and a tented Bocce Garden for larger celebrations — polished, grand, and quintessentially European, while being in Princeton.  Visit TPC Jasna Polana →

Nassau Inn

Right on Palmer Square in the heart of town, the historic Nassau Inn has been hosting weddings since 1937, anchored by the Prince William Ballroom and the cozy Yankee Doodle Tap Room. Classic, walkable, and steps from campus for portraits with iconic university places like Nassau Hall.  Visit the Nassau Inn →

Chauncey House & Gardens

With a lakeside setting of fountains, a footbridge, and a gazebo, the Chauncey (officially the Chauncey Hotel & Conference Center) offers tented wedding receptions, plus the on-site hotel — an easy, all-in-one home base for out-of-town guests rooted in convenience.  Visit the Chauncey →

Prospect House at Princeton University

This Italian style villa on Princeton’s campus — once home to University presidents — is a storybook setting with a beautiful garden. Worth knowing: Prospect House is the University’s private faculty club, so it’s typically only an option for couples with a Princeton affiliation.  Visit Prospect House →

Princeton Farmhouse (opening 2028)

One to watch: Princeton Farmhouse is a new luxury farmhouse-style venue from Landmark Hospitality, a premier wedding venue group, set on private acreage minutes from downtown Princeton and slated to open in 2028! If you like the look and feel of their other properties like Hotel du Village or the Ryland Inn, you will love the feel of Princeton Farmhouse.  Visit Princeton Farmhouse →

Morven Museum & Garden

A National Historic Landmark and former Governor’s residence, Morven offers restored period gardens and a Great Lawn for celebrations right in town — history, greenery, and a true sense of place.  Visit Morven Museum & Garden →

The Ashford Estate

About 30 minutes from Princeton, The Ashford Estate in Allentown, New Jersey (my hometown!) is one of Central Jersey’s most sought-after luxury venues — open countryside, formal gardens, a white ceremony garden, and grand, all-inclusive service from the Weddings of Distinction team.  Visit The Ashford Estate →

The Inn at Fernbrook Farms

About 30 minutes south on 230 acres of preserved farmland in Chesterfield, the Inn at Fernbrook Farms pairs a historic Georgian manor house with garden ceremonies and a tented reception — farm-to-table, unhurried, and beautiful in every season.  Read my guide to Weddings at Fernbrook Farms →

The Boat House at Mercer Lake

Tucked inside Mercer County Park right on Mercer Lake in nearby Hamilton, NJ, the Boat House is a relaxed waterfront option with floor-to-ceiling windows and a lakeside ceremony lawn overlooking the rowing course. It’s a more laid-back, natural setting with waterside views and a wraparound porch perfect for cocktail hour.  Visit The Boat House at Mercer Lake →

Hotel du Village

Just across the river in New Hope, Hotel du Village is a French château-style estate with two historic ballrooms, gardens, a pool, and on-site guest rooms — ideal for couples who want a full-weekend, estate-buyout feel a short drive from Princeton.  Visit Hotel du Village →

River House at Odette’s

Also in New Hope, River House at Odette’s sits right on the Delaware River with a glass-walled ballroom that opens to a riverside veranda, an on-site restaurant, and a rooftop bar. The wallpaper in the ballroom features love notes written by Ms. Odette herself — sleek, modern, and romantic!  Visit River House at Odette’s →
