A Galloping Hill Golf Course Wedding
Their Love Story
Emily & Scott matched on Hinge in December of 2021. They initially bonded over shared TV show & movie obsessions and being Penn Staters. After traveling for the holidays, they decided to finally meet. Scott picked up pizza (one of Emily’s favorite foods) and went over to Emily’s place where he got to meet Bali, her adorable lab mix, and was immediately given the seal of approval by her. They ate pizza, played board games, watched movies, and talked late into the evening.
But they consider the next night their first official date! They went to a cute pizza place in DC (as we said, Emily loves pizza!) where Emily got her favorite drink, an espresso martini. Unfortunately, about halfway through dinner, Emily started to feel terrible. Scott, being the incredibly kind person he is, brought her to a nearby Walgreens, got her medicine and tea, and brought her home. Once they got back to Emily’s apartment, Scott walked Bali for her, made her tea, and made sure she had medicine nearby. Turns out, Emily had COVID(!) and for the first time in his life, Scott realized what feeling “the spark” meant.
The next few months were a blur of brunches, a Valentine’s Day trip to National Harbor, many softball games, meeting friends and family, and more. They fell in love fast. Neither of them can pinpoint exactly when they fell in love, but they knew very quickly that the world was brighter when they were together. They went on adventures, spent time with family, formed strong connections with each other’s friends, and truly started to build a life together. They got to know each other more and more every day, grew as individuals, and as a couple, and pictured their future together.
The Proposal
It was December 2022 when Scott knew it was time to pop the question. They had been talking about the future and Scott had never been more certain that she was the one. Over the next month, He researched and shopped for the perfect ring. At first, he attempted this on his own with some guidance from Emily, but he quickly realized he needed her by his side to make it perfect. Emily helped pick the band and Scott picked the diamond, keeping it a surprise.
Then came planning the big day when Scott would ask Emily to marry him. He enlisted an elite team of Emily’s closest friends and her mom. The group discussed many options and quickly realized the biggest challenge wasn’t the when and where, but how Scott would keep it a secret from Emily. So, the group devised a plan that included a fake brunch, a fake party, and a fake work trip for Emily’s best friend to make sure she would have no idea it was happening.
On April 15, Scott popped the question. Friends and family secretly gathered at one of their favorite restaurants, Vola’s Dockside Grill, with the help of the restaurant manager, Freddy, who has built a relationship with the couple. Scott had never been more nervous in his entire life. On their way to a fake brunch, they walked down by the water in Old Town Alexandria. Emily realized something was happening almost immediately. Scott’s mind went blank. Thankfully there is video proof the proposal was a success. It was perfect. Their forever had begun.
Their Wedding
Emily & Scott tied the knot on a stunning summer day in July. They said “I do” in a little white church near Emily’s hometown then celebrated their love at Galloping Hill Golf Course with loved ones. With smiles from ear to ear, E & S showed their goofy sides through group photos with their bridesmaids and groomsmen and let their personalities shine through in the details, with Emily sporting her sneakers and Scott posing with his baseball bat. Of course, Bali made an appearance – both in real life and then on the signature drink sign and cookie favors!
