Point Pleasant, NJ
Maggie & Rob met during a monsoon and got married during a hurricane. Needless to say, when it rains, it pours – LOVE that is!
Hurricane Ophelia may have tried to dampen our day, but there was no blocking the shine exuding from these two and their entire wedding party and guest list! Despite the bad weather, we found many pretty places indoors at the Crystal Point Yacht Club, thanks to the help of their staff for accommodating us!
The colors of the day were sage green and white, a true classic. Maggie donned a beautiful long-sleeve gown with a trend-setting braid and headband hair combo.
When I first met M&R. it was during their engagement session at Liberty State Park. They may just be some of the nicest people I have ever met. I have a little bit of background producing television commercials and thought it was so stinkin’ COOL that Maggie was an Assistant Director on popular TV shows like The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and You! What a dream! Some special guests during their engagement session were their two precious pooches, Kona and May, who also made an appearance at the wedding as figurines on their wedding cake! A gift from Rob to Maggie – so *sweet*.
During the ceremony and toasts, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. Everything everyone spoke about the couple was so moving! Maggie’s father unexpectedly passed away last year, so her first dance was shared between her and her two brothers. Towards the end, her mother and Rob came out and they all danced together. There is a photo below of them in a dance huddle with a flash of light behind them from my flash that poetically appears like a heavenly glow – it gives me goosebumps to think about, and warms my heart at the same time!
My favorite thing at their wedding? M&R asked their guests to submit their wedding songs beforehand so they could create a playlist of all of them that then played during their Cocktail Hour! It was so unique and fun for couples to be able to reminisce on their own wedding day while snacking on hors d’oeuvres!
THEIR LOVE STORY
As told by Rob, “We met in high school! We’ve known each other for 12 years now but spent the first 5 years as “just friends.” We had seen each other through mutual friends but had never actually spoken until I (Rob) sent Maggie a Facebook message with my best one-liner: “Hi, you’re pretty.” Shockingly, Maggie wasn’t swept off her feet by that and informed me she was interested in someone else at the time. Dejected but determined, I insisted that we could be friends as we seemingly had a ton of the same interests. We started talking and hit it off, eventually becoming best friends. While I certainly had feelings for her during high school, it wasn’t until after we both graduated college that we reconnected and began dating.”
THE PROPOSAL
“We were prom dates in high school. After prom, we spent the next day in Cape May exploring the town and we have really fond memories of our time there together. During that trip, we took some cute pictures at a small lakeside park which have become some of our favorite pictures, even though we were just friends at the time. Over the years we have gone back to the park and tried to recreate those pictures, but have failed miserably as taking selfies just isn’t the same thing – that last part will be important in a moment. Nonetheless, when it came time to propose, I knew that the park had to be the spot. We grew up just outside of Long Beach Island and before her parents moved to Florida, they would always say they wanted to do a stay-cation on the island and live like tourists for a week but never got the chance to do so. With the help of Maggie’s older brother, we rented a house on LBI and told Maggie it was her brother’s Christmas gift to the family so that they could finally have their tourist vacation in their hometown. We spent a wonderful three days in LBI leading up to the proposal, and on the day-of we headed down to Cape May to get brunch with some friends. I was worried about how I could get Maggie to the park without her becoming suspicious, but as we drove into town Maggie suggested we go to the park and have our friends take our pictures since all of our previous attempts had failed. I couldn’t believe the luck as she had walked right into my plan without me having to do a thing. Up until the moment I got down on a knee, she had no idea it was happening so I would say the surprise was a success!”
