Manasquan Engagement Session

As the sun dipped below the horizon in Fisherman’s Cove, the shoreline took on that quiet, cinematic quality that only exists for a few fleeting minutes each day. The light softened, the air cooled, and the bay became a subtle backdrop rather than the focus—setting the stage for a session rooted in elegance, movement, and connection.

Megan & Drew approached their engagement session the same way they approach life together: intentionally, curiously, and with a deep appreciation for experience. They’re travelers at heart, drawn to places that feel both storied and inspiring. Several days before our shoot the two had returned home from an epic African safari adventure. They year before they had conquered Japan! That sense of wanderlust is woven effortlessly into their dynamic. There’s a calm confidence between them—unforced, intimate, and beautifully present.

Manasquan is one of my favorite beach locations for portraits. We leaned into its natural textures and colors – the vibrant greens, soft blues and clean whites of their wardrobe. Bare feet in the sand, every frame felt understated yet emotive, allowing their connection to remain the focal point. My favorite shots are the ones of them smiling adoringly into each others eyes and sharing a giggle in the surf.

A Hudson Valley Wedding

Photographing moments like these is less about posing and more about letting the environment breathe, allowing space for genuine interaction, and trusting the story as it unfolds. The early August weather delivered the atmosphere, and this couple brought the quiet romance (are they not natural models or what!?).

Next year M&D will be exchanging vows in the Hudson Valley where rolling landscapes and historic architecture will replace sea air and saltwater. It’s a setting perfectly suited to them: romantic, elevated, and timeless. Their Locus Grove Estate wedding will be a continuation of their engagement session’s narrative—one rooted in intention, beauty, and nature.
