Every holiday season we host a one-of-a-kind styled shoot with a beautiful and luxurious Christmastime theme. I collaborate with my sister, Erica, who owns the company Rhythm Floral Co. It is so much fun to work together with my sis as a team, come up with a creative concept for families’ annual photographs and then see our hard work later on many pretty mailed cards!

The 2023 theme was Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. I wanted to play into plum. It’s a secondary holiday color. I wanted to give people a refreshing color palette highlighting this deep jewel tone to make their Christmas cards unlike any other. Here was the mood board:

Clients received this mood board as well as an outfit guide to prep their outfits to coincide with the props.

I found a black and white gingham love seat from Dovetail Vintage Rentals as the focal piece for people to sit on. Erica then worked her magic with a cascading installation of plum florals, creams and greenery. The two of us actually foraged a gorgeous plum hued tree outside my house for the shoot! I also gathered some wooden and chrome nutcrackers to accent the bottom of the sofa and play into the theme.

While the ALP brand doesn’t lean toward the ~moody~ look, I loved working with this dark shade and mixing it up in a dark green studio in Ocean Grove.
