For a stylish, luxurious looking photograph, what’s in the background is just as important as what’s in the foreground (a.k.a., you!).

Typically, outdoors is the go-to location because of natural lighting.

But certain parks in New Jersey cost up to $25 per person for either a timed photography permit or General Admission tickets (Longwood Gardens, Holland Ridge Tulip Farm, and any park under the Monmouth County Park system to name a few). For a family of 4 plus your photographer, you’re already spending $125 before you pay the photoshoot fee. That fee is relative to the amount you could now pay for a well designed, indoor space.

No longer do you need to be outside to find the best natural lighting. And no longer do you need to find a photographer with a built-in studio, or have yourself a perfectly manicured home out of Architectural Digest to set up the photoshoot of your dreams. Introducing: Home Studio List!

Home Studio List is a platform of styled homes available to rent by the hour for photoshoots.

Home Studio List is great if you’re looking for:

  • A cozy, at-home looking Engagement shoot
  • A chic, clean setting that’s better than your own home’s interior design for a Family shoot
  • A space designed in the same aesthetic as your company for a Content Creation / Branding shoot (especially good for realtors, chefs, fitness and wedding industry creatives!)
  • A modern location that beats your venue’s bridal suite for Getting Ready for your Wedding

The site has homes in 40+ states! New Jersey currently has 30 unique homes listed from the suburbs of the city to down the shore so the options are abound. The homes are carefully curated to guarantee only the most quality locations that feature natural lighting and personality.

Because these are real homes that real people live in, rental hours usually max out after 8 hours so owners can back to well, living in their home. You can check out the home you like before your photoshoot with a 30-minute scouting session at a minimal fee. Or, you can request via email more photos of the specific space in the home you’re scheduled for from the owner.

Rates range from $100/hour to $300/hour. (Majority fall between $100-$200/hour).

I discovered Home Studio List late last year and used it once for my own Branding session, and a second time for my annual Spring Mini Sessions. My experience with the homeowners, space, and Home Studio List site was flawless. They were incredibly accommodating, quick to respond and adjust to my schedule. I already plan on renting a home again for my annual Holiday Mini Sessions later this year – so if you’re on not on my e-newsletter list to hear about it FIRST, get on it!

I loved the home I rented so much the first time – I used it again!

The home was titled “Coastal Chic” and located in Asbury Park. It fit my vision and brand’s style. Here are some of my favorite photos from my two rentals. You can also see my session on the Home Studio List blog here!

So, how do you book?

If you fall in love with a space for your next photoshoot, all you have to do is click the “Request This Space” button on the listing and wait for further instructions from the customer service department (which are usually extremely quick!).

If you’re ready to elevate your next photoshoot experience with a modern indoor location, start browsing Home Studio List. Send the link of your dream space to me in your inquiry form. I can’t wait to photograph your next shoot in one of these splendid spaces!
