A Spring Lake Wedding
It could not have been a more perfect wedding day – an 80 degree, sunny day in OCTOBER! Warm weather AND vibrant foliage? Heck yes!
Shannon & Nick wed at the beautiful St. Catharine’s overlooking Divine Park in Spring Lake. It is the same church Shannon’s parents got married at – so sentimental!
The girls got ready at the cozy B&B called The Chateau Inn in Spring Lake. I was obsessed with Shannon’s gorgeous stationery suite. The watercolor postcards of the church was an elegant touch. I enjoyed using something other than flowers, too, some burgundy leaves and berries to tie in the season. Shannon’s bridesmaids wore a seasonal shade of terracotta with complimentary white bouquets. Shannon wore a trendsetting strapless dress with an oversized bow on the back and cathedral veil with pearls.
After a heartfelt ceremony, we took family portraits (and a few bridal party ones) on the cement steps of the church, which I LOVE as it gives a certain European, classy flare to formals. We then hopped across the road to the park and oh. em. gee. if I ever saw more beautiful leaves!!! The fact that the sun was already setting at 4:00 pm too helped us get that golden glow early. We were lucky to get to the venue quickly too to get a few shots of the happy couple on the scenic golf course!
One fun thing this couple did that was different was the “Photo Challenge.” The band played the song “Thunderstruck” by AC/DC, a five-minute jam, and myself and the couple ran to each table in an attempt to get a group shot with EVERYONE before the song finished playing. We made it! 🙂
Fun fact, their wedding day was my birthday! I never thought I’d work a wedding on my b-day, but hey, after celebrating my big 3-0, it’s really just another day, right? Plus, Shannon and Nick were having the same band I had at my wedding – The Cliffs Band – which was the best present ever! S&N also proved to be the sweetest most amazing couple ever when they requested the band to sing happy birthday to me. Though it was absolutely their day and unnecessary, I have to say, my heart melted!!
THEIR LOVE STORY
Shannon and Nick met just as myself and my husband met – on Hinge! The two were both living in Philadelphia at the time. Shannon was starting nursing school and Nick had recently completed four years of service as an Army Infantry Officer. The two connected over both being Monmouth County, NJ natives, beach lovers, running athletes – and ended up going on three dates that first week! They have been inseparable ever since. After their fall nuptials they went on a once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon to the Maldives.
